As we near June, we know that a new month brings new blessings, but also, as humans, we often dwell on what has happened in the past or the challenges we are facing. As for our church family, grief is a daily challenge. However, we must remember to cherish the good memories and trust in what God has planned for us as we go through our daily lives.
June 14th signifies the first anniversary of our first lady's passing, and while her absence is profoundly felt, we must remember that even though God has called her home, there is still work for us to accomplish here on earth.
In today's current climate, many people are dealing with challenges - some choose to voice them aloud, and others are silent. Whatever you're dealing with, you must know that you cannot rely on your own understanding.
Proverbs 3 contains some of the most oft-quoted verses on pursuing God, the source of all wisdom. Proverbs 3:5–6 commands, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all the ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” These verses challenge us to override our human inclination to trust in ourselves. While God has granted us the ability to approach situations logically, we must have the humility to avoid leaning on our own understanding.
We need to trust and obey, knowing that Jesus is performing a remarkable work. Even though life is challenging at the moment, we must maintain our faith. We should adopt a positive outlook, believing that this too shall pass. Keeping our focus on Jesus, we must cast our worries onto Him. Ensure that you continue to do God's work while you are here. Whatever challenges you face in life—be it financial struggles, grief, family issues, personal hurdles, or professional challenges—remember that joy comes in the morning. Keep reading your Bible, pray earnestly, and cast your cares onto Him.
