It was quite clear that the presence of God enveloped General Conference in St. Louis, Missouri this year. If I had to estimate, I would say there were around eight or nine thousand attendees, and that was just those present in person; not to mention the online participants. Nevertheless, as the conference progressed, there was a profound sense of presence felt during the services, daytime sessions, personal discussions, and especially during prayer. It’s one thing to declare that Jesus is with us, but it’s an entirely different experience when you can truly feel His presence.
This trip was essential for my husband and I to attend and absorb teachings that seemed to directly address what we have been facing. Our prayer over the last few months, particularly since the passing of my mother (First Lady), has been for Jesus to provide us with comfort, strength, and peace. We prayed for Jesus to envelop us in His loving embrace, granting us peace that transcends all understanding. We sought solace in my mother's memories and guidance as we navigate life without her. Additionally, we prayed for our marriage, trusting in the plan He has for us and being mindful of His will in our lives. We asked for distractions to be removed and for clarity regarding His plans for us.
So, we arrived later in the week and attended the service on Thursday night. Superintendent David Bernard delivered a compelling sermon that highlighted the significance of humility, with the message of "Humble Yourself." Friday morning featured sessions focused on Christianity and deepening our relationship with Christ. I participated in the “Just Between Us” ladies event, which was incredibly impactful, covering a wide range of topics including marriage, family life, spiritual warfare, fervent prayer, health & fitness, healing from trauma, and more.
Friday night's service was an experience where you truly had to be present to grasp the power of Jesus. Josh Carson, the senior Pastor of Calvary Tabernacle in Indianapolis, IN, and President of Indiana Bible. His message was titled, “ Are you entitled or empowered?” That title alone is self-explanatory and it was so profound that you have to watch it. I cannot put it into words.
In summary, the 2025 UPCI General Conference celebrated its 80th anniversary with the theme '80 years strong.' The event featured the election of a new General Director for Global Missions and a variety of services, including a children's ministries service.
